How does air humidity affect our health?

Air humidity has both direct and indirect effects on our health. Whether the humidity levels are high or low, if they are not at the optimal level, humidity can adversely affect human health. The average room humidity level permissible depends on several factors, including the health of the house occupants together with the prevailing climatic conditions. Nonetheless, optimal humidity levels for a not too wet and too dry climate is within the range of 35% and 50%. Anything below 35% is low humidity levels which have the ability to adversely affect our health as well as levels above 60%. Regardless of the climatic conditions, humidity levels above 80% are considered dangerous.  Humidity thus affects our health through the following ways: High humidity favors the growth of bacteria and mould.  High humidity levels create optimal conditions for the growth of bacteria and mould in our homes.
